1) It is your responsibility to contact the adopted family, as soon as possible (and no later than Dec. 13th).
- Let them know they have been adopted
- Clarify items on Santa Letter's, if needed
- Make arrangements for delivery of gifts and food
- Clarify any dietary restrictions
2) Purchase and gift-wrap at least 2 gifts per child in the family. We ask that the value per gift be at least $30.00 since, for many families, these may be the only gifts the children receive. Please do not give used items as gifts.
3) Please provide the ingredients to prepare Christmas dinner based on the size of the family. Include a grocery store gift card large enough to purchase a turkey or ham, fresh vegetables, and fruit. The bag should include rice, 2 cans of soup, 2 cans of vegetables, 5 lbs of potatoes, dinner rolls, butter, stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, a dessert. You can add whatever you wish to complete the meal.
4) Optional considerations
- Additional grocery bag of canned food and cereal, etc.
- Provide a tree if needed
- Purchase a household gift such as sheets, towels, etc.
5) Your gift may be tax deductible. In order to receive a 2008 receipt from VCUM you must complete the enclosed form and attach copies of all receipts for food and gifts. Then return the form (with any copies) to VCUM no later than December 31st, 2009 in order to receive your tax deduction for 2008.
