Roles and Responsibilities
EVENT: Earthquake - Fire - Flood - Mud Slides
|
RESPONSE AIM: immediately convert facility to provide direct aid assistance to victims of a disaster in the form of food, water, emergency repairs, medical etc. before government ot other long term assistance is available.

ACTION: Upon conditions made known to by of OES, local fire, police, Red Cross or common sense:
- Activate our Disaster Center
- Provide disaster supplies and food to Fire Department and shelter as needed for mass feeding before Red Cross supplies arrive.
- Activate our disaster Team and volunteers to respond to direct aid assistance needed. Remain open as long as necessary.
- Obtain other quarters if necessary to receive and distribute donations of food, water, emergency repair materials, and miscellaneous supplies.
- Network with other Agencies involved in San Lorenzo Valley OES Disaster Plan.
- Determine victims needs through client interview and provide direct aid assistance as deemed necessary.
- Refer victims to other Agencies in need of:
- Counseling
- Help to fill out government forms
- HRA County Services
- Volunteers to do minor repairs or clean up
- Refer victims in need of immediate housing to what is available to VCU through offers from the community
- Long term assistance
- Notify OES re: information we may receive from victims concerning possible dangerous situations.
- Coordinate with Red Cross on the distribution of ffod vouchers and emergency assistance.
- Provide financial assistance directly and immediately as required to get victims back to their homes and provide for their basic needs of food and shelters.
- Solicit donations from churches, community, service clubs, business foundations, and county resources to be used without administrative costs to expedite recovery.
Amounts provided to victims will be based on damage assesment information and information received from other agencies listed in the SLV OES plan on a case by case basis.

FOOD and SUPPLIES
Comply with all Health Department rules concerning handling and sorting of all donated food. Coordinate with County HRA Health reprsentative.
Sort and store food, water and camp gear donated.
Distribute above based on individual need determined through case interview.
Share case records with other Agencies for determination of long term assistance if client has signed release. |
